Irishman Stephen Dewar, who reports on the chic new French restaurant Maisoncafe in this issue, came to Russia for six months as a tourism consultant in January 1996. He is still here. Before that Stephen worked as a public servant (senior economist with the Irish Tourist Board), an academic (senior lecturer in strategic management at the University of Limerick), a journalist (editor of two leading Irish banking magazines), a farmer, an entrepreneur and a consultant working in Africa, the Balkans and the Middle East. Stephen is also PASSPORT’s book reviewer and creates our monthly crossword puzzles.

Simon C. Roberts
An award-winning photographer working for publications such as TIME, The Sunday Times Magazine and GQ in his native London, Simon C. Roberts has just relocated to Moscow with his wife Sarah. "The plan was to escape editorial commissions and move to Russia where I could work on a series of personal projects. However, since arriving a fortnight ago I’ve photographed carpets for PASSPORT, a former Guantanamo Bay detainee for Der Spiegel and an actress for Russian Vogue!" Although Simon and Sarah will be based in Moscow over the following year they plan to travel and work across Russia. You can view Simon’s work at www.simoncroberts.com.
