Ice-Skating for Children

The winter is here to stay for a while, so try to take an advantage of it and go iceskating with your kids. There are many indoor and outdoor ice-skating rinks in town. Most indoor ice-skating rinks are situated inside sport complexes or on the territories of sport complexes, so they are available for public use only during certain hours of the week, and get crowded. In some places you can rent figure skates. For rental you will be required to leave cash or ID as a deposit. But for less than 100 USD you can get your own pair in major sport shops, such as Trial-Sport or Sportmaster, and save standing in a queue.

Indoor

Sozvezdiye

Open to the public on Sunday evening only from 6-7 pm. 50 rubles for grown-ups and 30 rubles for kids. No rental. Premises belong to an icehockey and figure skating sport schools. There are 3 ponds and several playgrounds nearby.

Serebryany

Ice-skating for the public is possible from 8.15pm to 9.50pm on Sundays. Other times the rink is used by hockey, figure skating and short track schools, where they accept kids from 6 to 9 years old (sign-up in August). No rental. 60 rubles for kids, 80 rubles for parents.

Raduzhny

Like in many places, it’s cheaper if you buy a few tickets at a time for use within the same month, then tickets cost 70 rubles per visit for grown-ups and 50 rubles per visit for children. There is an ice hockey school for children from 6.. Ice skating for the general public is on Sundays from 5-6 pm. No rental.

Sokolniki

Open from 8pm -12pm on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays, sometimes from 8pm - 2 am on Saturdays. Background music, laser shows and even concerts. There is also a bar and pizzeria. Rental (100 rubles per 1.5 hours) and sharpening of figure skates is available. Check timetables before coming, because sometimes they change during ice hockey competitions. Entry costs 350 rubles; for tickets from 4-7 visits – 300 rubles per visit; from 8pm-11pm – 270 rubles per visit; from 12-24 visits – 250 rubles per visit.

CSKA Ice Palace

Night-time skating on Fridays and Saturdays from 8pm –12pm and 1am-5am. Entry costs 200 rubles, 160 rubles for students and kids. Rental 100 rubles per hour, deposit 1,000 rubles or an ID document. You can also sharpen your figure skates for 100 rubles, at the ground floor (pavilion 6) from 10am-5pm.

Russkiy Lyod (Russian Ice)

Open from 12am-11pm. Dance parties on ice from 8pm-11pm. 200 rubles per hour for grownups; 150 rubles per hour for kids. Rental 100 rubles.

Mega Mall in Khimki and Tyoply Stan
Open from 10am-9pm. Rental 50 rubles. Entry is free. Kids can skate only with parents. Hourly sessions, put your name on the list in advance, as both places are always crowded.

Outdoor

Park Gorkogo

The most famous and favorite outdoor skating rink, which occupies 40,000 sq.m of the park area: the pond, park grounds and paths are covered with ice for the publi. Entry 50 rubles, for kids – 20 rubles. Rental 80 rubles per person up until 9pm. Open from 10am - 10pm.

Izmailovskiy Park

Rental until 7pm. 3 grounds – for hockey, children and grown-ups. Open from 2pm - 8pm on weekdays, from 11am - 9pm on weekends. Monday and Tuesday off. Entry with your own ice skating boots costs 80 rubles; rental costs 80 rubles.

Stadion Yunih Pionerov (Young Pioneers Stadium)
31 Leningradsky Prospekt. M. Begovaya. (495) 613 4642 for indoor, (495) 613 0239 for outdoor.
Indoor has no rental, open on Sundays from 12am - 8pm, 100 rubles per hour. Outdoor is open from 6pm to midnight on weekdays, from 12am–12pm on weekends; 60 rubles on weekdays, 130 rubles on weekends, children up to 12 can skate for free.
