Vladimir Pantyushin has been appointed National Director and Head of the Economic and Strategic Research Group of Jones Lang LaSalle, Russia & CIS. He is responsible for maintaining and further developing the company’s research function, strengthening relationships with core clients, and raising the company profi le as a strategic adviser through research leadership. Pantyushin was previously the Chief Economist of Renaissance Capital. His career included a period as Head of Research at Rosbank, Moscow and vast experience in research and consulting with FortRoss Capital Management in Santa Monica, the International Copper Association in New York and as a Consultant for IBTA-2 Budget Reform Project in Dushanbe. He holds a Ph.D. in Economics from Duke University, an MA in International and Development Economics from Yale University and a BA in Mathematical Economics from Moscow State University.
Jeremy Oates is now Managing Director of real estate consultancy, Knight Frank for Russia and CIS. Oates has been involved in real estate for over 24 years. He has been working in the international field for over 16 years having gained significant experience within the emerging markets of Asia and the Middle East, as well as in Europe and the United Kingdom.
John O’Keeffe is the new General Director of premium alcoholic drinks fi rm Diageo’s Russian arm, ZAO “D Distribution”. His area of responsibility will also include Diageo business in CIS countries. After graduating with an honors business degree from the University of Cork, O’Keeffe joined Diageo Ireland and spent five years in various marketing roles, including three years responsible for Guinness, the famous iconic beer brand. His experience with the company spans marketing assignments in Jamaica, Stockholm and Greece where he served as European Marketing Director for Johnnie Walker. Commenting on his new position, O’Keeffe said, “Russia is one of the Diageo’s fastest growing businesses worldwide and we have a solid platform for further growth.”
Jan Chovanec has joined Swissôtel Krasnye Holmy as its new general manager, replacing Ian Jones who has moved to Shanghai as general manager of Swissotel there. A U.S. national, Chovanec began his career in food and beverage in the former Czechoslovakia before moving to Austria and then to the United States. His distinguished 20-year career has seen him as general manager with the Lafayette Swissôtel Boston and The Ritz Carlton Boston. In 1993 he established the Dunhill Management and Consulting Group, Ltd., to advise hotel owners and investors. Chovanec re-joins Swissôtel Hotels & Resorts from Conrad Hotels where he was General Manager of Conrad Indianapolis.
Daniel Steinke has been appointed General Manager of the Moscow Marriott Grand hotel. Swiss-born Steinke brings to this position a wealth of relevant experience culminating in the last five years with the Kempinski hotel group in several locations. He comes to Moscow from Bulgaria, where he was General Manager and Regional Director at the Kempinski Hotel Zografski, Sofia. Previously he opened and managed the Kempinski Hotel Dalian in China for two years. His other Kempinski jobs included the opening of the Kempinski Grand Hotel Heiligendamm, Germany, venue for the last G8 meeting in 2007, and the Grand Hotel Europe in St. Petersburg where he worked as corporate operations manager in 2002.
Tom Cashel has joined real estate advisors Cushman & Wakefi eld Stiles & Riabokobylko as Head of Capital Markets Department. Prior to joining C&W/S&R, Tom was with Midland Development International in Moscow. Before this Tom held senior investment banking and capital markets roles successively at America’s Growth Capital, Boston; Donaldson, Lufkin & Jenrette, Moscow & London; ING Barings, London, and Chase Manhattan and its predecessors, in Warsaw, London and New York. His involvement with the Russian capital market began with the advent of inter-bank trading in Russian sovereign debt and evolved into investment banking work in Debt and Equity Capital Markets, including private placements. Other executive appointments in C&W/S&R include Alexander Nikishov as Senior Consultant and Konstantin Feofanov as Consultant to Warehouse and Industrial Department. Nikishov will be responsible for the marketing and leasing of warehouse properties in Moscow, while Feofanov will be responsible for business development.
Dmitri Smolko has been appointed a Partner of Investment and Strategy Consulting Practice at Aga Management. A specialist in corporate finance, mergers and acquisitions, private equity, strategy consulting, and capital market deals, Smolko is a graduate of the Plekhanov Russian Economic Academy and has an MBA from the International School of Business, Insead, France. He has over ten years professional experience in fi nance, audit and aircraft leasing in large foreign companies such as Deloitte & Touche, Citibank, the Federal Bank of the Middle East, and Palmera. He joined Aga Management as the M&A Manager in 2004 and was promoted to Vice President, Investment and Strategy Consulting Practice in 2005.
