Black caviar on ice, home-smoked halibut with avocado salad and smoked duck strudel, all inside a real 17th-century monastery. Noon-midnight.

The Godunov Restaurant is located in Teatralnaya Square in front of the Bolshoy Theater, close to the Metropol Hotel and Red Square. The halls of the restaurant are former refectory chambers of the 17th century. They feature painted vaults. The building used to be the part of Zaikonospasskiy Monastery that was put up in the time of Boris Godunov, thus the name of the restaurant. The Godunov Restaurant is fairly considered to range among the venues offering genuine Russian cuisine. It is incredibly popular among the lovers of old Russian cuisine.

The interior of the restaurant, as well as its cuisine, is typically Russian. Under the vaults of old chambers there are oak tables and heavy chairs with high carved backs. The walls of the restaurant are decorated with ornaments and frescoes, wall lamps are shaped as candlesticks with burning candles. In the restaurant there are the four halls, which are the red hall, the green hall, the yellow hall, and the VIP-hall.

The menu of the restaurant offers an extensive choice of dishes prepared according to old Russian recipes. The menu includes the famous Guriev porridge, various meat and fish delicacies, appetizers, vodka liqueurs, mushrooms, and so forth. The guests confess that the chef of the Godunov Restaurant created a real paradise for those who like and appreciate Russian cuisine. They appreciate tasty dishes, first-class service, large helpings and reasonable prices.

Interior and cuisine are not the only Russian features in the Godunov Restaurant. Each evening the guests are entertained by Russian folk songs, dances, Gypsy performances, and so forth.

The guests of the Godunov Restaurant appreciate the free guarded parking place.
